I would like to start by talking about how our school discriminates sports.
In the Philippines, the most favored sport is unsurprisingly; Basketball. You can go to a park without seeing one or two courts, its seen everywhere from the streets to being replayed on tv.
Of course, there is not any harm in being totally passionate about a sport, however in school setting, i dont think its just to favor it from all the rest of the sports. Every athlete knows their sport is important, and that its challenging. They also know its important to win to prove yourselves worthy to your peers. getting to my point, i find it very interesting that basketball seems to be the ONLY important sport in our school (a close second is volleyball, but that's another story.) the basketball team are very privileged, and everyone notices. Dont believe me? lets REALLY think about it for a second; There are 6 basketball courts in total in our school. the two volleyball courts in our pavillion can be converted into basketball courts, and if that wasnt enough they've also put ANOTHER basketball court outside parked next to the football field. the last two are in gym 3 and in division one, but is used for badminton (thankfully)
after that the whole (guys) basketball team are given school customized bags, shoes, socks, water bottles,( and they are rumored to have a key to a certain beach house which i can neither confirm not deny.) the problem here is recognition. obviously there are so many great teams in this school who have felt more than unappreciated for quite some time now.
I'd like to start of with the baseball and softball teams whose field has recently been converted into a parking lot. Not only have they already been forced to train in ACC due to the lack of facility the school provides,( and sometimes the alternate of practices coming from the frisbee team), but now they're only field has been stripped of them. I'd also like to point out that it was not well-maintained, and like I'd said before was not suitable for much softball or baseball. And for what? its not like they deserve to have their field cut from existence, they WIN, they're an amazing team. Most of the guys baseball team go abroad to play (and win) many tournaments. The softball team has been given no support since they
